In late 2002, the NDH Foundation launched the quiet phase of The Campaign for Northern Dutchess Hospital. With an initial working target of raising an unprecedented $7 million dollars to support the Hospital's then $17 million project, that goal was reached at the 2003 Starlight Ball. At that event, not only did the Hospital unveil its impressive plan for growth, but also, the NDH Foundation was able to announce that it had, in fact, surpassed the $7 million target, and was publicly launching a $10 million Capital Campaign. At the 2005 Starlight ball, Lewis J. Ruge, Chairman of the Campaign for Northern Dutchess Hospital, stood in front of a crowd of 400 people to announce that the Foundation, and the Capital Campaign committee had indeed reached $10 million, and exceeded that $10,000,000 by $600,000! In fact, since that announcement, the NDH Foundation has continued to receive gifts to support the incredible building and renovation project, and in June of 2006, the effort was very close to the $11 million mark. That support comes as a direct result of the quality care provided at NDH, and the community's vote of confidence in the organization's ability to continue to provide the quality care the Hospital is known for. And the culmination of the many years of hard work on both the Capital Campaign and the extraordinary building project was highlighted at a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication on June 19, 2006.
